Aside from being a visual artist, I am also a musician. I started a project with the name "Brownsma", which I release music under. The Brownsma brand is mostly beats with some bedroom pop songs. The songs have influences from Jazz, Soul, Hip-Hop, nostalgia, Asia, France, America, nature and many more inspirational things. The project mainly revolves around art. For every single or album I create the artwork, together with another visual artist in my network. I will discuss some works I have released.

The first single is called "Daisy" and came out April 24th 2020. I made it together with a very talented friend of mine, Koen Rots, who is musically known for playing in the Dutch Guitar Ensemble. It is a very relaxing spring track, with jazzy guitar melodies. 

For the cover I linoprinted a Daisy, scanned it and layered it on top of an image of real Daisies.

The second release is an album/beattape called "Walking The Dog" and released on July 31st 2020. The tape contains 10 songs and has a duration of 1 walk with your dog. All of the idea's for the tracks came to mind while walking the dog. The tape is a collection of auditive experiments, samples gained from crate digging and musical moods. All the songs have names related to being outside or walking your dog. The first five tracks are lo-fi based or inspired tracks, while the last five are more boombap or oldskool hip-hop based tracks. 

The cover was shot by a photographer called Ivar Elstrodt. We shot at sunset while walking my dog.

Once the album was released, a friend of mine who produces EDM music, Rick Dunnewold (aka Ardex) made a remix of "Daisy". It is a beautiful future bass remix, takes the essence of the original track and turns it up to 200%. 

For the cover I send him the original file for the Daisy cover, and let him remix it. He made it more realistic and nostalgic.

The last release in 2020 was a winter themed Lofi project containing two songs. The name of the project is "Winter Care Package" and was meant to calm you down and make sure you don't get overwhelmed. It's like a mindfulness exercise. I used piano, guitar and violin in the songs and gave them a very soothing sound. As of May 2021, the first song on this project (Soft Focus) has over 100.000 streams!

For the cover I asked my good friend Bente van Gent (Instagram: @studio.benedetto) to recreate/remix a painting from Toon Tieland, a painter from Amersfoort. The result was very pretty and she also made a small animation for the Spotify canvas (see the Spotify link).
